Picking the President, 2016: A Guide

I made this chart for comparing Clinton, Johnson, and Trump on the six dimensions that I think are most important in selecting a president.

To use the chart the way I did for myself, score each candidate from 1 to 10 for each dimension, with 10 being the highest possible positive score. Then total your scores for each candidate.

Here is the chart and instructions in a Word document, for your ease of use and modification.

I’ll post my scorings in a week or so.

Here are some follow-up questions that may affect one’s scoring and one’s evaluation of the significance of one’s scoring:

1. Should each issue be weighted equally?
2. Are there other major issues not included?
3. Should I vote my positive conscience or for the lesser of evils?
4. Do I believe in voting for the individual candidate or for the team the candidate will lead?
5. What do I think about the current two-party-dominant system?
6. Do I live in a contested state?

Update (10.8): Mark Goodkin suggests that I add “Health and physical/emotional stamina” as a criterion.
