Blasphemy: Stephen Fry and the Problem of Evil

Stephen Fry was asked: If you were to meet God, what would you say? His answer:

“How dare you create a world in which there is such misery?”

For that he is being investigated by a government for violating blasphemy laws. In the 21st century. In Europe.

On the philosophy: my introductory lecture on the Problem of Evil and the major responses to it.

On the psychology: as usual, The Onion gets it right.

  1. oh yes. One person complains and the police investigate. Quite rightly ridiculed to death, but not before signalling the usual dangerously dumb knock-on effects of an establishment bent out of alignment with civilised reality in accommodation of an untenable alien invasion sneaked in by the globalists. Far more desperate warning signs than this have been shoved under the carpet by successive governments, and unless I am elected PM within the next 5 years, ever more terrible social disintegration leading to civil war will be inevitable.

Desperate joking aside, I think Fry’s pathetic answer to the question is part of the problem we face these days, and he is super-intelligent compared to many of the celebrities given platform to promote shallow utopian garbage.
