If you will be in Manhattan tonight, consider joining us for my debate with Thaddeus Russell on this claim:
Postmodernism is necessary for a politics of individual liberty.
I’ll be arguing the negative.
More info and early-bird tickets available at Eventbrite.
Thanks very much to the Soho Forum’s Gene Epstein for the invitation.
I thoroughly enjoyed the debate this evening. Not only did I come away from it with a better understanding of post-modernism, generally, but the dangerous weight of the mindset was clear.
I was surprised, and relieved, when Dr. Hicks was declared the winner, given that many in the audience around me seemed to be true-blue fans of Dr. Russell. There is still some sanity in the world.
Any recommendations for further reading on the impact of postmodernists on contemporary society?
I recommend the following book which was edited by Edwin Locke:
Postmodernism and Management: Pros, Cons and the Alternative (2003)
