My livestream The Religion Course — concludes this Wednesday at thinkspot.
What is religion? Is it true? Is it good? If neither necessarily, is it useful? Does the meaning of life depend upon religion?
For example, here are some candidates from major intellectuals:
“The essence of religion consists in the feeling of absolute dependence.” (Theologian Friedrich Schleiermacher)
“By religion, then, I understand a proposition or conciliation of powers superior to man which are believed to direct and control the course of nature and of human life.” (Anthropologist James Frazer)
“Religion is what an individual does with his solitariness, and if you were never solitary, you were never religious.” (Philosopher A. N. Whitehead)
Livestream lectures will be on Wednesdays from 7:30-8:30 PM CT. Lectures will be recorded and available afterwards at thinkspot.
