Very fine article by University of London philosopher John Sellars on Aristotle, “the single most influential human being ever to have lived.”
I agree.
Related: My close reading of the first book of Aristotle’s classic Nicomachean Ethics, in the Philosophers, Explained series.
I found this comment interesting in light of the recent “Open Objectivism” debate.
“All this underlines the fact that he certainly wasn’t a dogmatic thinker and that his works don’t necessarily form a comprehensive monolithic system, even though it is quite easy to see them that way.”
So can we today speak of Aristotelianism and have any idea of what we are talking about? 🙂
