Gardening

A favorite quotation, from Abraham Cowley in the year 1688:

sunflower-and-bee-265x200

“Gardening is one of the best-natured delights of all others, for a man to look about him, and see nothing but the effects and improvements of his own art and diligence; to be always gathering some fruits of it, and at the same time to behold others ripening, and others budding; to see his soil covered with the beauteous creatures of his own industry; to see, like God, that all his works are good.”

(From Cowley’s Of Agriculture.)

Don’t have an orderly garden, but deeply appreciate the quotation from Cowley. Will check the links you provided.

  2. I’m about to go out and weed (an activity I happen to love). Every time I pull up a weed I get a little ‘zing’ as I see in my mind what it is going to look like afterward. I come back high! Thanks for the lovely quote.
